Summer Fun

The kids are all on holiday
Schools are closed up tight
I bet all those weary teachers
Are booked on the quickest flight!
Now harassed Mums are wishing
That the kids would go and play
Instead of whining “What can I do”
Twenty times a day!
Well August here in Bridport
Is quite the place to be
The town gets really busy
And there’s lots to do and see.
In all the surrounding villages
The fetes are in full flow
With the coconut shy and Tombola
Should you wish to have a go.
At Broadoak there’s a Country Fair
Go and try a country pursuit
With Archery and mountain boards
And even guns to shoots!
Then carnival fever hits the town
There’s Bingo, darts, car boot and Fete
Leading up to the great procession
Moves off at 7.30, so don’t be late!
Which brings us to the Melplash show
This year with stunt bikes and Wing Walkers
Also horses, cattle, sheep and goats
Rabbits, chickens, ducks and porkers!
That lot should keep you busy
Soon Autumn will be here
Our Summer fun is over
Till it comes again next year!
