arac promotions & Bridport Arts Centre present “Welcome to our world” with Heron + ElijahWolf at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday 15 December 2007, doors at 7.30pm
Heron - Folk-Rock icons -“Simple, pastoral, folk-rock, with a gentle, ‘English summers day’ feel.”
Heron come to Bridport in a rare one off gig that will brightening up the mid-winter with their quintessentially English sound.
Bridport based keyboard player with the band, Steve Jones, explains why the group are coming to the market town to celebrate 40 years together, “The last time we played in Bridport was 2005. We felt this was going to be the last time we played together. But the response from Bridport Arts Centre’s audience was so good, and rewarding for us, that we re-evaluated the idea of calling it a day. Since then we have played a number of one off gigs, including the Tolpuddle and Isle of Wight Festivals.
“As this resurgence started in Bridport we were keen to come back and play for the audience that made us so welcome over 2 years ago. We’re really going for something special. We’ll be joined by Devon fiddle player, Nick Wyke, and for the first time in 15 years by “Big” Tom Robinson who regularly played with us in the 70’s and 80’s.”
Heron’s Bridport date also coincidences with the re-issue of the band’s first two albums, Upon Reflection on Sanctuary Records. Steve said: “Again the interest has surprised us. At the moment we are getting regular airplay on radio stations across the world, not bad for a band celebrating their 40th year. ”
Singer-songwriter EljiahWolf provides support for the evening. ElijahWolfs first single Watermelon Sugar has become a firm favorite with Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe. The evening will be a great chance to catch him in the intimate surroundings of Bridport Arts Centre.
