What I am unable to understand is that many people are climbing on to high horses and complaining that Bridport is in dire need of more parking spaces. Why? Half of the car park spaces are never used by locals because of the higher charges anyway, we're told. (Car parks which incidentally, are owned and run, and the charges set, by W.D.D.C., not Bridport Town Council as many don't seem to know.)
Bungle and Zippy  NO PARKING Another bonkers planning scheme that puts cars in front of people. In this case, it's turning a house on Victoria Grove into 5 flats with parking on the side which means cars will use the lane which is currently basically a footpath to North Mills. It would be fine if everyone using the path had luminous jackets, personal alarms, full body armour etc but generally they have dogs, children, pushchairs - not much use for car to person combat. Anyway since no one from Bridport is actually on the development committee in Dorchester, we have to shout quite loudly to be heard. The planning officer is going to give it the green light at Thursday's meeting with no objections from anyone apparently expert in traffic, roads, paths or pedestrians ... I'm not a professional ranter - not even a gifted amateur, but I'm hacked off about this. Can you help make some noise because I think if people knew, they would care.
