BEST OF BRIDPORT E-mail

ImageBridport Radio was officially launched on 1st April 2005 Now in it's second year we've gone from strength to strength, when you type "Bridport" into Google we've gone from page nowhere to page one - which is good news for our advertisers (remember all local businesses, clubs and groups are entitled to a free listing).

We've made some friends and some enemies, the latter have taken offence to some of our content and had to be reminded that it was either something said “tongue in cheek” which should not be taken seriously (ie: the whole Bucky Doo section) or that it was an individuals opinion they had taken unction to, which is why we publish comments on articles so that all factions can have their say.

We've got the Best of Bridport Businesses article and we’d like to hear from you – what articles or comments tickle your fancy, cull the gull, Notting Hillbillies, readers wives/husbands? Let us know what you think we need that is missing and what you think is...

The best of Bridport Radio...

I've enjoyed the Dr Malicious thread and the Notting Hill stuff. Most of the debates that get going make interesting points and the comments are usually amusing. I think it would be interesting to have short profiles for members to add bits about them such as fav drink/music +-ve things about town etc. Just gives a bit of personality to the faceless names.

There's not enough banjos.

what sort of profile where you after ?(goccibos) Not enough banjos where bat? in the world? in your room? look out for the reappearance of the ukulele, brilliant Japanese musician on Utube playing ""while my guitar gently weeps"" a million miles from ""when i am cleaning windows""

I really really want to listen to the music but when I try it plays a couple of seconds then goes back to beginning or sounds like norman collier(breaks up for those not old enough) Mostly the content of BR is good but not when it gets nasty.Good t see that new members signing up.

tuzo(2) I meant that you click on a name from a members list and get, for example: Describe yourself in one word: likes about the town: dislikes about the town: Fav music: Fav website (after BR): etc etc

I think a small profile is an excellent idea (i.e. not a big one like some sites with a ""* Must Complete This Box"" next to each item). Those who want to remain anonymous can decide not to fill it in. I want to see what Dr. Malicious would write.

You've got it, see "Who the hell are you"

thanx tuzo(7)will lookout. Ed, why do you sound so surprised at me being on dial-up?

Dawdling in w.h. smiths the other day, i picked up a book called ""why mummy why?"" being curious i read dustjacket and found it to be a sad story of a boy being sexually abused by his mother..oh dear.. putting it down i glanced above to see another book called ""NO Daddy NO!"" same stuff and standing back saw many other such titles, tiny tears falling everywhere.. I stepped back in surprise and saw this section called itself ""Tragic Life Stories"" next section History etc... Is this what we are supposed to be reading these days? They are being churned out it seems

tuzo(12), you can read about the characters behind many of these sad stories in the ""who the hell are you"" pages. ps add one yourself, already worked out that the Bat is paranoid.

I have always enjoyed the delicious Dr Malicious and the Bucky Doo section in particular. the Abuse a Member was good fun for a while but we all ended up just abusing each other and not tackling local issues. who the hell are you is OK but to be honest I don’t care who ""they"" are just as long as they will get stuck into the debate. What I like most of all about the BR site is all the things that I don’t like because that is the point, ie to have a look at or listen to something or someone’s opinion that I wouldn't normally take the time to kak on.

Best Businesses: Davey's Locker, Fruits of The Earth, Bridgets, Framptons...(I want to say Leakers but no matter how much I try to like their baked products, I just can't get past how bland, bitty, dry and unappealing they are...), Good News. Worst Businesses: Frys, Palmers, Goadsby, Mckinleys, Morrisons Best bits of BR: The bits where people (myself included), spend more time thinking about what they are saying and less time trying to be amusing. Worst bits: Topics that are done to death, and end up in a competition of one-liners, and clever plays on words.

The woman at Car Phone Warehouse (Erin I think her name is) is brilliant when it comes to explaining mobile technology, and funny with it. All transactions to do with mobile phones seem to take hours, but she makes it less like hard work by being intelligible to normal human beings.
