ISSUES E-mail

After chastising some members of BridportRadio for continually squabbling and not keeping to the topic in hand Carlito has pointed out…

"The issue that the amount of REAL issues in Bridport are either so TRIVIAL or FEW AND FAR BETWEEN that it seems more pleasing to waste pixels on cannon fodder than it does to waste pixels talking about property developers, land-rights, red-tape, coffee mornings or fictional editorials.

THAT is the real issue. The fact that we on BridportRadio milk every last drop out of an issue and get totally bored doing so.

ISSUES RAISED IN the BRIDPORT NEWS TODAY?

IDIOT Explorer to be home by the Autumn (yawn)

GALE\'S SCHOOL OF DANCE bought by money hungry developer. (yawn) NO KIDS SOFT PLAY AREA (aww...bless) - YAWN!

CARNIVAL TO BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR (let’s hope so - yawn)

BEAMINSTER COUNCILLOR GETS STROPPY (yawn)

ENTERTAINMENT SECTION (ha ha)

PROPERTY SECTION (ouch....and yawn)

RECRUITMENT (if you like old/mad people\'s poo OR waiting on tourists)

BACK PAGE (lost will to live before I got there)....

And in response to the headmaster-like patronising reiteration of the thread starter...your answers are \"NO, NO and it\'s NOT AN ISSUE\".

Rant over...for now.

Carlito."

I would say there are issues and events that are worth bringing up on this website and I would like to ask all members to let us know about them, so rather than just commenting on articles - contact us with your own articles for publication and comment.

Thanks - Ed

Re Ms Foote and her seven kids. Maybe she could register on Bridport Radio under the non-de-plume of Snow White and her seven little dwarfes? What a laaaarff that would be! I have various hobbies which tend to take up a bit of space. My 16 bedroom house is nowhere big enough for my needs. Do you think the council may consider my request for a 24 bedroom mansion?

28 vans, that ain't nothin', you should drive around the outskirts of Cherbourg in France, unbelievable, caravans and white vans everywhere, thousands of them.

Weeell, today I was reading the paper(national)and saw that an 8 yr old was found to have nicked thousands of pounds worth of jewellry from old people in his neighbourhood(No trite comments about old ppl please)but would not be prosecuted as he underage! What age should kids have to take responsability,if under ten do parents have responsability, one chance/beniefit of doubt then court, what is the answer?

Do agree about explorer.Must be nice to swan off n do own thing with no worries, the woman who went to northpole n left her twins home fall into the same yawn.

Penalising the parents won't work. Those kids vindictive enough will break the law with the sole purpose of getting their parents in trouble. I say bring back hard labour. Get them fixing pot holes in the roads.

Having just been to Cornwall and back in a day to visit a relie, I have had a moment of clarity and can confirm that I have discovered the truth behind Bridport's appeal. Bridport, is not too far East to be a 100% Chav town, and not too far West to be a ramshackle hole of economic depression or breaking records for ""tweeness"". I then realised that this is pin point accuracy. Even as locally as Lyme Regis (a town designed for mountain goats)...the edge-of-devon twee factor is repulsive. Then to the East we have Dorchester and Weymouth. Bland, chav, dirty and far too close to train stations. Bridport is slap bang in the middle of a 40 mile corridor of perfection. And as for Rock, Polzeath and Padstow. They can keep their executive surfers and stay EXACTLY where they are!

And since I'm still flying the black flag (well blackish): Local papers seem to think ""greens"" are something you eat at Sunday lunch and Labour is something poor people have to do (mainly outside Dorset before retiring down here) to get on the housing ladder. There are REAL issues in this town, look at our Cllrs at Town, District and County level and start asking questions! Insist and don't take the ""it was an officer decision"" as a reply, go on change something, make the Bridport Radio a soap box for local issues!! gets off own soap box (again)

well i just got back from brighton (pride) and the two young locals i had in the car, groaned when we hit bridport..""oh no, not back here, its crap etc"" i didnt feel this way, but i am not local. Can anyone see bridport supporting a ""Pride?""

Posted by goccibos, on 09-08-2007 07:45,
tuzo, we already have a ""Pride"" its called the Carnival, I seem to recall a YMCA entry one year. and as for the young locals; I expect the difference coming back into town and being bored is that in Brighton I expect they had to do something rather than hiding away play X box for hours or surfing for porn. in my day...blah blah

Tuzo Were there many other Lesbians at Brighton Pride?

Posted by tuzo, on 09-08-2007 17:05,
bridport carnival a pride? no way (goc 9) one year a YMCA entry?and thats it? i guess you answered my question though, maybe in another fifty years perhaps?

Posted by tuzo, on 10-08-2007 10:00,
other? other than what...? there were regular ones, but other ones, do not know, why do you ask?

Posted by goccibos, on 10-08-2007 10:12,
tuzo why not start a Pride event I'm sure there is more than one gay in our village and i rekon Bridders would be up for it, gotta keep pushing the boundaries. we all like to party!

Is Pride the collective noun for homosexuals (as well as lions??!) e.g. ""as the pride of raging queens began to close in on Reggie, he began to wonder if it was worth feigning encyclopaedic knowledge of Dolly Parton, in order to stun the pride into retreat.

Posted by tuzo, on 11-08-2007 07:43,
i did suggest a ""gay night"" at the george some years ago, but it went down badly (with Tim Q) and I didnt press it further. (goccibos 13) I have never organized anything, except my own chaos, i think it should be done by a gay man or woman, and i dont have that honour myself,it might seem a bit interfering? however I am asking people to see what the feeling is.. who knows eh? we might have to hide all those people who talk about toilet trading etc, maybe a nice trip to blackpool for the day?

Posted by Rosieo6, on 14-08-2007 16:48,
Just because we 'notting hill on sea' we don't need to copy brighton too!If the gay community wanted a 'pride here they would have one in spite of, probably because of, opposition.

I agree that 'not keeping on topic' is a major ball buster. PS. Who won the design a mikkimug competition? ___________ TBA - Ed
