Four men from Bridport are embarking on an unusual adventure at 4pm on Thursday. They will leave from No10 Café Bar East Street and attempt to drive to Krakow in Poland, and back again, in a car disguised as a cow. They will also all be dressed as cows for the duration of the trip, expected to last around 10 days. They're back - watch this space for debrief

Martin Davies, Archie Turner & Lynden Norman hope to raise over two thousand pounds for their nominated charity, the NSPCC.  Lynden answers questions relating to the trip...

So,what inspired the cow car?

“It’s really simple, we wanted to raise money for a charity, what’s the best way of getting what you want? Well it’s breasts isn’t it, everyone knows that breasts are instruments of incredible manipulative power. We don’t have breasts, because we’re blokes, so we had to be clever about it. Fake breasts were one possibility, but we felt that might cause offence, especially in France, where they get offended about everything. We eventually agreed on cows, which allows us to present a harmless and friendly image in all the countries we visit but still employ the psychological effects of the udder to our advantage. Plus everyone loves cows. Moo”

Where did the car come from?

“Paul Hindes, the owner of No10, East Street. The man is a legend, it’s a fantastic car to use and he just gave it to us. It really demonstrates Paul’s, and indeed No10’s attitude towards events like this. I’ve worked part-time at No10 for a couple of years, and the staff are always up to something. Penny Leins has been doing a lot of fundraising for Asthma Research this year, as previous, and Paul’s family have supported the Children’s Society with fundraising events involving No10. When I mentioned we were hunting for a car, he just donated his and bought a new one”

How much preparation has gone into the car?

“Well it was blue, it’s now a cow. It’s the fact that it goes moo that I’m most proud of, by the time we go we’ll probably have spent about 20 hours on it”

Any concerns about the rally, it’s a long way!

“My only real concern is fuel, it’s a big car, if we get too big a gap between petrol stations, that could cause a problem, but we’re taking cans as well. You also have to consider the possible environment impact of driving a car that distance, there’s been a lot of discussion recently about the Carbon Footprint. Interestingly, cows contribute more to certain emissions than cars, so we’re actually a pretty environmentally friendly cow in that respect. There is always the risk of a mob of salad eaters attempting to stop the rally, but we just need to focus on the fact that we’re doing this for a great cause, and run them over”

With so many charities to choose from, why the NSPCC? You don’t all have children.

“I don’t have any children, the DNA tests proved that, the bitch lied. The NSPCC is a very transparent charity, and have a good record of using donations well, it doesn’t get sucked into layers of admin. The NSPCC work on a three-pronged approach, they provide support to children and families, the keep the issue in the public eye, and they push for changes in the law. They really do cover all the bases, they also have powers that other charities don’t to intervene to protect a child. A lot of people have said to me they don’t like the adverts they produce, as they are upsetting, but that’s the point; Right now, somewhere, a child is in fear, that’s not acceptable. If the adverts upset you, that’s because you know there is truth in them, in which case, do something about it. The £2 a month cliché really does work, or donate to us, or do something yourself, but do something. You wouldn’t walk past a child being abused on the street, so don’t ignore it just because it’s not happening in front of you.
