The Guy Mallinson Woodland Workshop is celebrating its first anniversary in West Dorset by announcing three new two-day courses - Totem Pole Carving, Woodworking For Wildlife and Making A Rustic Stool.
These courses are very much in response to public demand, and are intended to compliment the existing and very popular Bowl Carving and Kitchen And Garden Pole Lathe Turning courses.
Green Therapy Many guests on courses over the past year have remarked that they have enjoyed the experience of being out in the open in the woodland workshop and away from the rat race just as much as the actual woodworking - the peace and quiet of the woods is a welcome therapy for modern life. The three new courses will build on this aspect of the whole 'green woodworking' experience. The skills and tools used are ancient and create no noise, dust or pollution. Course numbers are strictly limited to ensure a friendly, personal atmosphere. Green Theme Green woodworking uses craft skills to work with freshly cut, unseasoned wood. To maximise environmental friendliness, all the wood used on the Mallinson courses comes from local, sustainable, managed woodland near Bridport in Dorset. Going one step further down the green road, recently Guy has taken to using horses to move the logs needed for the courses. Continuing the green theme, the items made on the courses are intended to give many years service in the home or garden - they certainly aren't 'throwaway'. All Year Round
BEE LOG With the addition of these new courses, the Mallinson Woodland Workshop can offer 'green woodworking therapy' for everyone, all year round. Early booking is advisable and can be made by telephone (01308 485 111) or via the Mallinson web site - www.mallinson.co.uk.
