A wide selection of artists are opening their studios on the May Bank Holiday, at St Michaels Studios in Bridport. One of the artists opening his studio will be Ian Dunn, who will be showing the first in a new series of large abstract paintings. Ian says, “My principle influences include the American painters of the 20th Century, such as Albers, Newman and Rothko.”
All of Ian’s paintings are based upon an enduring geometric conundrum known as ‘the Golden Section’, and are at the forefront of a new wave of UK abstract painting. The three-day Open Weekend event is a great opportunity to meet and talk with the artists in their working environment. The St Michaels Studios were founded by artist Kit Glaisyer in 1999 and now provides space for 16 artists. Artists who will be showing their studios include Ian Dunn, Kit Glaisyer, David Brooke, Caroline Ireland, John Boyd, Andrew Leppard, Charles Hallsworth, Petra Hughes and Spike Golding. The St Michaels Studios, on the St Michaels Trading Estate, will be open on 26th, 27th & 28th May, from 10am to 4pm daily. |
