ORPHEUS will be performing at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday 12th May from 8pm, where they'll be joined by guest artists Bridget Pearse (violin) and Philip Clouts (piano). There will also be dance sequence choreographed by Nicky Northover. Serving up its own flavour of funky jazz grooves the Bridport based band play infectious polyrhythmic originals derived from soul funk, Afro-beat and Latin jazz. ORPHEUS are Simon Hartung (alto sax / keyboards), Michael Grew (trumpet / drums), Andrew Leppard (guitars / percussion), Ralph Cree (drums / congas), James Price (bass) and Jules Neubert (percussion).
The MAGIC DRUM ORCHESTRA will be playing an opening set, pounding out Brazilian Samba, African and Afro-Cuban rhythms. This ten-piece percussion outfit, based in Dorchester, is led by Ralph Cree and Glyn Bush. . . . . . .and if that ain't enough, top West Dorset DJ James Baker will be mixing up a cocktail of Brazilian drum 'n bass and other contemporary global grooves. It's likely to be a big night out for the serious dancer! Tickets are available from Bridport Arts Centre at £7 (£5 concessions) |
