GET ON THE GOOD FOOT E-mail
ImageOn Good Friday 6/4, ‘Get On The Good Foot’ will be the first of three gigs at the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis, promoted by Sweet FA Productions, a new entertainment team promoting live music . Fran Williams and Ayvin Rogers are aiming to get people together and get them dancing. Sweet FA Productions plan to put on original live music with a difference, and are expecting to attract an audience from a wide area.

The April 6th gig will feature Mankala, a high-energy Afro-Caribbean band, and kicks off at 8.30 pm with the legendary DJ Dr. Funk, whose musical medicine will limber up the dancing shoes and make the soul feel good.

Fran said, “ I came across Mankala playing at a private party near Bristol. Their lively mix of Afro Beat, Reggae and Zou had a couple of hundred people dancing into the early hours, and I knew they would be great for Lyme. ”

Based in Bristol, Mankala’s members come from Martinique, Zambia, Tenerife and the UK. Ayvin added, “Showcasing the best musical styles of their regions with love and enthusiasm gives them an unbeatable edge. Here's a taste of their music and more can be found at http://www.mankalabeat.com/ .”
Dr. Funk has a long history and solid reputation for great funk music. His collection is vast and his sequencing of tracks keeps the dance floor filled. Ayvin said, “ We’re really pleased Dr. Funk is coming to cure our winter blues.  The mix of Funk and Mankala’s music is a great combination and all ages can have a great night out.”

‘Get On The Good Foot’ tickets, at £10, can be bought in advance from Fuego, Coombe Street, Lyme Regis and Bridport Record Centre , South Street, Bridport. Martian records, Lace Walk, Honiton, Axe Record Shop, Castle st, Axminster.

When Fran and Ayvin approached us with Sweet FA Productions ideas for live music, it was clear that they could work with us to expand our programming even further. Music from different parts of the world is not only interesting, but also enables us to share the joy that different cultures bring to the world. This show is highly recommended!”
