Over the last 7 days a number of crimes were reported to us from around the area, these include: • Damage occurred to a Citroen Saxo when it was parked in Simene Close during the early evening of Tuesday 6th March. Another vehicle, this time a Red Renault Clio had significant damage to a side door, whilst it was parked in South Street in the mid morning of Wednesday 7th March. A transit van belonging to Wessex Water was parked in the area of North Allington overnight Saturday 10th March had it drivers wing mirror snapped off causing damage to the window. • An address in Rivervale had a large whisky bottle used to collect coins stolen, this occurred overnight Thursday 8th March. • A ladies black bicycle was stolen overnight Friday 9th March when it was left outside a property in Chardsmead, Bridport. • West 1 public house had criminal damage to a window after a chalkboard was thrown through it causing it to smash. This occurred in the early hours of Saturday 10th March. • Damage occurred to a window in Folly Mill Lane, this occurred overnight Saturday 10th March. • Theft shoplifting occurred twice at Somerfields Store during the morning of Sunday 11th March. Firstly frozen meat was taken from the freezer section and then spirits were taken. It is believed that a member of the public witnessed this and told staff. I would like that person to come forward a make a statement to me at the station. Other crimes have been reported over the same period. To protect the wishes of the victims, and not prejudice any ongoing investigations these will not be reported. Robbery Over the same period a 39 yr old man was walking home from an evening with friends when two people attacked him along the riverbed in the vicinity of Happy Island. The man sustained injuries to his head and back and was then robbed of his wallet and other personal items. This occurred in the early hours of Thursday March 8th. Attempted Robbery In another incident a woman was walking her dog in the vicinity of St Mary’s playing field. At approximately 7.30pm on Saturday March 10th 2 males aged in their teens approached the victim and demanded her valuables with menace. The males were wearing distinctive clothing and once they were aware the police were called they ran off. Arrests Over the period March 6th to 14th 12 arrests were made: 1 x aggravated taking of a motor vehicle 1 x Breach of bail conditions 1 x Criminal damage 2 x Theft of garden ornaments 1 x Theft shoplifting 2 x Public order offences 2 x Common assault 2 x Assault actual bodily harm If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries: it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.
