Over the last 7 days a number of crimes were reported to us these from around the area, these include:
• Over the weekend Superdrug was subject to criminal damage after a large tempered pane of glass was smashed.
• A purse was found in the vicinity of South Street on Saturday March 3rd it was handed in – it is believed that prior to the purse being found by a member of the public cash was stolen.
• Overnight Friday 2nd March a blue Mitsubishi Shogun had its ignition barrel damaged and was stolen and taken without consent from an address in Bothenhampton.
• Again overnight Friday 2nd March a green BMW 318i was stolen and taken without consent from the Bothenhampton area.
• Overnight Thursday 1st March a secure Yamaha 125cc motor bicycle was stolen from outside an address in Bridport town centre.
• A stationary vehicle parked on South Street had a wing mirror closest to the pavement snapped off, this occurred during the early evening of the Thursday March 1st.
Other crimes have been reported over the same period. To protect the wishes of the victims, and not prejudice any ongoing investigations these will not be reported.
Bicycle coding
The recent bicycle coding session organised by volunteers of the crime prevention panel was a great success 28 cyclists attended and had their bicycles stamped. The next coding will take place towards the end of June.
The crime prevention panel are able to attend locations around the Bridport and surrounding villages and can, where suitable locations are available run similar sessions to engrave articles such as bicycles to gardening eqiuipment. The next will be done in Broadwindsor a date will be forthcoming once arrangements are confirmed. Arrests
Over the period February 28th – March 6th 8 arrests were made: 1 x Positive breath test – drink driving 1 x Criminal damage 1 x Harassment 1 x Theft 1 x Theft shoplifting 1 x Possession of controlled drugs 2 x Possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries: it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction. Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide.
