As Ian Andrew Ruby, 18, was sent to Broadmoor maximum security hospital for psychiatric assessment before sentencing over the stabbing of three young girls in East Street, the mother of one of the girls writes: "...I have utmost praise for all the services and medical staff and those passers by that assisted at scene. We moved to bridport for a quiet life which we had had until then and although we have now moved as our daughter was haunted by the scene we still have a great love for Bridport and West Bay and my children still attend a local school. I wouldn't deter anybody who was thinking of moving there from doing so. This type of incident is an isolated one fortunately. ...it was a great shock as you can imagine but we are now rebuilding our lives and our daughter is back to her smiling giggling self and I hope that the other families involved can eventually return to normal as they are local and have to live with this as well."
