Dorset – the place to be If you decide to settle in Dorset You’ll discover as the years go by That you’ve come to a very unique country And here I’ll tell you why. We’ve cottages with thatch a-plenty And some are very famous indeed Like the one where our own Thomas hardy Wrote stories to give us a good read. There’s castles like Lulworth and Maiden And a fallen one high up called Corfe At Cerne Abbas there’s even a giant And believe me this fellows no dwarf! In Bridport we have the net factory A ‘dagger’ was once fashioned here It’s the noose that the hangman slipped over Unless you were proved in the clear. Strange names abound here in Dorset Like Tolpuddle and Toller Porcorum Then there’s Puncknowle and Piddletrenthide And what about Whitchurch Canonicorum! Quiet hamlets nestle under hillsides And villages right by the sea Rolling green fields and high hedges Yes, this is the place for me. So pay us a visit in Dorset There’s so much to see and do Come on down and make it a holiday You’ll find that you’ll soon love it too. Ma Baker
