In the previous 7 days there were a number of incidents in the town, which ended in assaults being discovered by Police. Officers made an arrest for one of the assaults where the offender was found near the scene.
In another a male required hospital treatment. I ask that anyone with information contact us at the Police station.
Other developments as mentioned last week include officers again executed a search warrant in a premise this time in the Beaminster area under the misuse of drugs act at house controlled by housing aassociation. During the search officers seized controlled drugs at the premises and the occupant was arrested. A quote from Sgt Hughes from Bridport Police said...
“We will continue to monitor intelligence and will act upon it to ensure drug dealers and users are disrupted and convicted. I would ask that anyone with information regarding drugs use contact police or crimestoppers with as much information as possible in order for us to deal in an appropriate way. We will continue to work with other agencies proactively in the fight against drugs."
Arrests
Over the period– December 12th 18th 8 arrests were made: 2x Theft 1x Assault actual bodily harm 1x Obtaining property by deception 3x Possession of controlled drugs 1x Positive Breath test – drink driving Road Safety Officers attended a scene of the accident at 9am on the 18th of December on dangerous stretch of road between Beaminster and Broadwindsor. At the scene officers placed out hazard signs, cones and blue flashing safety lights a significant distance from the accident to warn road users of the approaching hazard. Once the hazard was cleared the blue flashing lights were removed believed stolen. I cannot stress enough that these are to ensure the safety of all at the scene. Officers later the same night attended an accident at a similar stretch of road in the same vehicle, their safety and that of everyone at the scene was seriously compromised as a direct result of the missing equipment. If these items have been removed as some form of trophy or practical joke my colleagues and I would like them returned and nothing will be said, however If you are caught in possession of these at a later date then it will be treated as theft. Drink driving If you drink alcohol the best advice is that you do not drive or attempt to drive.
This includes the morning after; you need to be aware that you risk still being over the limit if you have consumed alcohol the night before. You run the risk of being banned from driving for a significant period of time and you may have to pay court costs and / or a fine as well.
If you drive as part of your job, profession or to support you and your family and are caught drink driving. Clearly in the week gone another individual has been caught drink driving and no doubt others will be caught out as well.
YOU will be the only person to blame if others suffer for your actions behind the wheel of a motor vehicle if you choose to drink drive, clearly the message isn’t getting out.
If you know of anyone who habitually drink drives you will be doing everyone favour by letting us know. Drink driving kills innocent people and I would ask that if you call us, if need be on crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with names and registration details of the persons who cause a risk to us all on our roads.
