If you want to know the time, ask a policeman
Isn’t that what they used to say?
But as you hardly ever see one now
I don’t think it would apply today
When was the last time I saw one?
I really can’t recall
Perhaps the best chance of finding one
Is at the policemans ball
We usually see some at carnival time
And at the Melplash Show
But where they hide the rest of the time
I really do not know
Still, reading in the wip-wop
At last someones seen the light
We’re going back to old fashioned policing
Well we always knew that was right
Coppers on corners is this new idea
So we will know who our policemen are
I guess you can chat to them better
If they’re not flashing by in a car
So it’s Bobbies on the beat for us now
That should help us sleep better at night
It’ll be good to view the boys in blue
A truly amazing sight
