In the previous week there were a number of search warrants executed in the Bridport under the misuse of drugs act at house controlled by housing associations. During the searches officers seized quantities of drugs at the premises.
As a direct result co-operation will take place with the owners of the properties and eviction orders may be sought. If tenants of any landlord controlled properties are in clear breach of any tenancy contracts where Police officers attend expect this as a likely outcome. Another significant incident of concern relates to a burglary of charity boxes and cash from the United Reform Church East Street in Bridport. This occurred overnight 11th of December. This is a particularly despicable act, the money was raised for various good causes, they will now suffer during the festive period as a direct result of the actions of this crime.
Arrests Over the period November 5th – December 12th 9 arrests were made: 4x Theft 2x Assault actual bodily harm 1x Making off without payment 1x Possession of controlled drugs 1x Warrant failure to appear in court
Drink driving
Drink driving is something, which the courts do not take lightly especially this time of year. If you drink alcohol the best advice is that you do not drive or attempt to drive. This includes the morning after; you need to be aware that you risk still being over the limit if you have consumed alcohol the night before. You run the risk of DON'T DRINK & DRIVE being banned from driving for a significant period of time and you may have to pay court costs and/or a fine as well.
If you drive as part of your job, profession or to support you and your family and are caught drink driving. YOU will be the only person to blame if others suffer for your actions behind the wheel of a motor vehicle or other mechanically propelled vehicle.
If you know of anyone who habitually drink drives you will be doing everyone favour by letting us know. Drink driving kills innocent people and I would ask that if you call us, if need be on crime stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with names and registration details of the persons who cause a risk to us all on our roads. Road Safety On December 19th at 5pm Symondsbury primary school are holding a candlelit walk from Eype beach car park to Eype church. This is a private event and is for the parents and children of the school only, the delay will be kept to a minimum and road users in the area need to exercise caution and patience. If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries: it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction. Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide. Contact the police station direct, or speak to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 – all calls will be treated in confidence
