Illegal transit camp gives the wrong idea to travellers as they enter the area. Why has nothing been done about the growing encampment situated on the A35 east of Bridport? Most of these no doubt unlawful vehicles I suspect were the same ones that were an eyesore at Hogleaze last year.If the Highways authority applied the same rules to these vehicles as they have done to people trying to earn a living by parking a tea wagon in the the laybay the maximum stay would have been less than 24 hours-with the police in attendance to make sure they went-not months! There is no shortage of licensed sites in this area, but of course rent would have to paid.

I'm not sure who wrote this load of rubbish, and what's more, I don't really care. There are just a few facts that the scribe should be aware of before he, or she (probably not), puts fingers to keyboard. The white van that's parked there ‘all day’ is there for a reason. If the writer were to open their eyes and take notice of what’s going on, rather than just amble past with their finger up their nose, they would see that there is a lot of work and refurbishment going on in Bucky Doo at the moment, on behalf of The Town Council. The notice boards have been removed, cleaned and repainted. The glass fronted, lockable boards have now been replaced at the lower end of ‘the square’ to allow easier public access, and to improve the vista, as people enter Bucky Doo from East Street. Some seats have been removed, it would be stupid to remove them all at once, and taken away for exactly the same reasons. The seats are showing signs of wear and minor vandalism, not to mention the pigeon & shite-hawk crap they are covered in. They are being replaced in slightly different positions and Bucky Doo is having a general clean up. So why the white van? Not only are all the contractors tools in it but it has a small generator in the back. This is being used by the contractors for power tools, to re-drill the holes for bolts holding the seats down and doing up the nuts on those bolts when the seats are replaced, etc., etc., and is not normally there ‘all day’, only when contractors are removing or replacing street furniture! Where would the scribe like the van to park? On double yellows and cause chaos in South Street? On the disabled parking bays and cause havoc to our disabled shoppers, like some others do? They could always run power cables across the road or pavement, (but Health & Safety wouldn't allow it) always supposing some generous resident or business would allow them the use of their source of electricity. I think not! Does the scribe want Bucky Doo to remain in an un-welcoming condition, or would he/she like it to be smartened up? Why do people have complain, even when work is being carried out ‘for the good of community’? They would soon complain if Bucky Doo was left to deteriorate beyond financial repair, wouldn’t you? Quit all the moaning and allow the work to be done, as you would like it to be. Thanks.

Some would argue that being a new age traveller is actually a way of life, just the same as people that choose to confirm to what society says is a 'normal life'...just the same as Gypsies have a choice why should the travellers be forced to change their way of life? If the layby that they are in is unused (which it is) then whats the bloody harm? You people should be more worried about someone actually doing harm like the terrorists of the world , or peodophils...Back in the nineties we used to live up the top of dorchester road (the hole in the hedge site) it was brilliant, it was free in more ways than one. Being single minded spreads a fear for things that seem different to the norm, try looking at things from their point of view. Stretched

If I tried looking things from their point of view, I wouldn't pay any road tax or insurance for my car. Also I wouldn't pay any council tax.

I agree, the Electric Palace inititaive is great for the town - but somehow I feel it may have been better to get the rest of the place going before another restaurant.. there are already about 21 eating houses in East - West - South Street, and so many others in the suburbs but very very few places to go for entertainment (except up the bell tower with Bat)- look forward to the grand opening of the rest of it..

I don't have a problem with white vans in Bucky Doo. These vans belong to workmen/women (that was political correctness that was), working in the square. The white van I have a problem with is the one which parks actually ON the junction of the traffic lights. How does the council justify letting a pitch knowing that's hapening. Does the market have a health & safety risk assessment?? If so, I am sure the white van on the lights causing a regular danger isn't mentioned.

What's the bar that doesn't exist then?

Just remember one very small detail-this is a business venture.

The trouble is Ranga that the people who seem to not consider the global warming problems always have their heads stuck somewhere else and don't give a monkeys what happens to our planet. Usually they are the ones who drive the kids to school instead of walking and at the end of the day don't care about anything but themselves.Yes,they are the ones with the outdoor heaters. So, we must introduce a Bridport fixed penalty of £100 for any who has lights all round their houses and give the money to the sensible people who simply put a unlit decoration upon their front doors. Merry Christmas to the sensible ones..
