ANYONE FOR TENNIS? E-mail

ImagePlease can someone out there explain to me why there have been two new tennis courts built on public playing feilds when the two existing courts are very rarely full? Surely the money could have been better spent on something else such as a basketball court or all weather football pitch, so that the kids of bridport have something better to do than get drunk and annoy others.

well it is very simple to explain really...you see recent government funded studies show that there are more 'drunkun youngsters' than there are tennis players. so the plan is to build even more tennis courts in a vein effort to get more people for the youngsters to annoy. seriously though i thought it was ok as just a field...i along with most people in bridders can remember spending many a drunkun moments in that playing field annoying the bejesus out of the olduns.

Its all down to the government again, instead of spending our car/road tax on stupid funding of some rights group or other. They should be spending it on what it was meant for, repairing and improving our decrepid road system.

I think it's very judgmental to apply the stereotype of Bridport kids getting drunk and annoying others. Good way to alienate any Bridport Radio readers who are still of school age. Surely we should be fostering social inclusion and make young persons feel part of the community. I think the town coucillor who started off the debate about kids in Bridders supposidly being on the rampage, what are the police doing etc. etc. was after scoring political points for his own ego rather than serving the community. If he had serving the community in mind, he would realise that the people he is marginalising are actually part of the community he is supposed to serve. Should we conclude from this that all councillors are there to serve their own ego's? I am sure not all coucillors are the same, just as all kids/young people are not the same.

The Bat Should know that the outdoor shooting gallery (if you didn't use an indoor one in ""H"" block) is under the skate board ramps.

Drunken youngsters are part of what make's Bridport great, and a stero-type is only a stero-type if there are enough people who fit it. Anyone secure enough in themselves and sure of their social standing should quite easily accept that the vast majority of their peers fit that sterotype, without feeling defensive about it. On another point, the Bridport Tennis Club should broaden their scope and incorperate a new brand of Drunken Tennis. Rather than a net, a makeshift bar can be setup with an equally drunken bartender, and players propell rotten vegtables at each other with spades, over the bar. ""Serving"", is simply getting another round of drinks from the bar/net. Sounds like it could take off!?

I think the demise of the Christmas late night shopping with the closure of South Street to traffic to allow pedestrian access to stalls is a lamentable move. The additional lighting provided by this event greatly enhanced the line of sight from the town hall bell tower.

Hey guess what - I saw two beat bobbies walking on Thursday - sadly neither was Scot our missing man... had to get out of my car to look under the helmet of one as I thought Scott had grown a beard..still I suppose it's progress seeing someone on patrol...

I think Mr C the town milkman deserves an award. Anyone who has so many food stops on his round but still finds the time to deliver some milk inbetween them is a hero...

I think it's very touching that so many people are missing PC Scott M. I saw the one with a beard walking down West street with his uniform fluorescent coat flapping in the wind. Whatever happened to the smart police force of yesteryear? I do recall sniping the odd 'uniform' walking about the town but don't recall giving 'lead poisoning' to our local beat bobby, so if he doesn't resurface, don't blame me. Anyway, re the gangs of youths. Don't see anyone moaning about gangs of pensioners outside the post office on pension day. That's ageist that is !! There's a law against that now,..... ooops, .. no beat bobby to enforce it, never mind.
