Victoria Grove speed limit campaigner Maureen Hymas has asked Bridport Town Council to back a speed limit of 20mph along Victoria Grove after a pet cat was killed!
Call for Speed Limit She said: "Yet another pet cat has died a slow and painful death and one can only assume from his condition that this was the result of careless and callous driving. "It is only a cat you may think but next time it could be a child, it could be you, me or indeed anyone if something isn't done."
Coun Richard Nicholls added that the potholes in the road meant a cat would more likely be drowned than run over. He said: "The actual state of the road is appalling. I have been talking to the council about it and they simply said the surface of the road is just breaking up. The surface of that road is collapsing, it is not a narrow country lane anymore it is a main thoroughfare whether we like it or not, filling it up with little bits of filler won't do." Councillors have agreed to support a plea to the county council for a 20mph speed limit.
