ROAD TO RUIN E-mail

ImageDid anyone notice the diversion signs on the roads to and from Beaminster recently? of course you did, there they were - big ones, small ones, drunks fighting with them over the weekends. Wow, thought this citizen they really must be doing a proper job on that piece of road through Salwayash on up to Broadwindsor which has been only recently so shoddily resurfaced and patched (twice) because of the cheapskates who will not use a fixative in the tarmac so a with bit of warm weather the road ends up sticking to your tyres.

So we all went the main road to Beaminster and back for two weeks, suffering the selfish farmers who will not pull over and let the two mile tail back pass by their humungous bits of machinery. (Hey I know it's harvest time and they've got a job to do but let's have some consideration for others). Well today I saw no diversion signs and thought let's try out the new road on which so much time and effort has been spent, which let's face it equates to our council tax pounds. Half a piddling mile of glossy new tarmac from the Cherry Tree turning to Washing Pool farm, that's it? That is it! Oh well the lumps, bumps and potholes on the rest of the road up to Broadwindsor will hopefully help keep the speed limit down.

haha road signs again! here we go on the A35 London Inn hamlet again, please read this its serious! there ie a new sign on your left as you approach Chideock warning of a ""slippery road"". ask yourselves why is it slippery? i can tell you why, its because the highway authority planted some sycamore trees alongside the road, and now that theyre approx 30 feet tall, they're broad leaves fall on the road at this time of year and they become similar to wet soggy cardboard, thus making the road slippery! well in these days of litigation i feel sure the relatives of a poor unfortunate who gets maimed or killed as a result of the slippery road would easily find a lawyer clever enough to spot that, in fact the highways authority (dear old CONNECT) actually created this situation and would successfully sue them for negligence, what do you think? just a thought.
