 CHARLOTTE TEAGUE Sunday 27 August, 2006. 18 year old IAN ANDREW RUBY of Bridport has been charged in connection with the stabbing of the three teenage girls in East Street, Bridport, just before 6pm on Wednesday, 23 August, 2006. He is due to appear before Bournemouth magistrates court at Stafford Road, Bournemouth, tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, from 10am. Mr Ruby is currently in custody.Saturday 26 August, 2006. A picture of CHARLOTTE TEAGUE has just been released by her family. An 18 year old Bridport man arrested in Chertsey, Surrey, in the early hours of Saturday 26/8, is now being questioned by detectives at Weymouth police station.
Monday 28 August, 2006. Local man, Ian Andrew Ruby aged 18 appeared before magistrates in Bournemouth on Monday 28 Aug 2006. Ruby was charged with three counts of wounding with intent and also with possession of an offensive weapon, a machete and a knife in Chertsey, Surrey.
The case was adjourned until 4 September 2006 for a preliminary hearing at Dorchester Crown Court. Three young girls were stabbed and seriously injured as they got off the No 31 bus in a Bridport. The three young girls aged 14, 15 and 17, all received serious injuries in the attack which happened about 17:50 on Wednesday 23 August and are in a serious condition in hospital. Police sealed off East Street immediately after the attack, and have appealed for any witnesses to contact them urgently.
Rasheed Ahmed, a local restaurant owner, heard their screams and ran to help the girls. Rasheed Ahmed said: "Blood was coming out and she was crying and calling for her mum, another girl was bleeding heavily."
The attacker is described as being in his 20s, with dark hair and was wearing a dark coloured bomber-style jacket, dark tracksuit trousers, a dark baseball cap and light-coloured trainers. A Dorset police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been on the number 31 Charmouth to Weymouth bus and anyone who was in East Street at around 17:50" The young girls have now been named as Charlotte Teague 14, Sophie Hyne 15 from Bridport and Kirsty Edwards 17 from Staffordshire. All three are now said to be in a stable condition in hospital at Dorchester. A 20-year-old Bridport man was detained by police on Thursday in the Seaton area of east Devon and questioned overnight before being released. Please read associated article: SLEEPY BRIDPORT?
