A new section commander has taken charge of the Bridport section of Dorset Police. Inspector Caroline Naughton assumed responsibility of the area, which covers the rural towns of Bridport, Lyme Regis and Beaminster, at the beginning of this month, January 2010. Inspector Naughton has taken over from Inspector Alan Jenkins, who takes up the role of Partnership Inspector on Dorset County Division.
I nspector Naughton grew up in Dorset but in 1993 moved to London and joined the police service as a police constable for City of London Police. During her spell of employment working in central London, she was promoted to sergeant and in 2004, moved back to Dorset. She joined Dorset Police and worked as a response sergeant in Poole. In 2005, she became Staff Officer to the Chief Constable, working at the force’s headquarters at Winfrith and in 2008, became the partnership sergeant, working across the Dorset County Division. In January 2010, was promoted to the section commander role in the Bridport section.Inspector Naughton is married, has two children and lives in West Dorset. She said: “What I want to bring is the right balance of policing, to meet all the needs and the demands in the varying population, whether people live, work or visit the area.
“I want to build upon the ongoing successful work that has been taking place here already, and ensure that local communities are confident with the service that they receive from Dorset Police.
“It’s clear from my previous role, that there is an enormous amount of good partnership working taking place across the county which I intend to further develop here in Bridport.
“I want the public to know that when they come to us, their issue will be dealt with professionally and that they will be listened to.”
