For more than three decades no one was closer to Harold Pinter, arguably the country¹s greatest modern playwright, than Lady Antonia Fraser. Now to coincide with her new intimate and moving memoir of her time with the Nobel Prize winner, Must You Go? My Life With Harold Pinter, Bridport Arts Centre is proud to present a day of events celebrating his life.
Lady Antonia herself will be in conversation with Pinter¹s close friend, director Harry Burton to discuss his life and work and the man away from the headlines. The talk, which is in conjunction with the Bridport Literary Festival and sponsored by the Sinestre Theatre Company, will be followed by a screening of Working With Pinter. The film offers a rare insight into his methodology as he rehearses with extracts from some of his own works. The evening concludes with a rehearsed reading of his 1995 play Ashes to Ashes with Harriet Walter and Roger Lloyd Pack. The play explores the obsessive themes of memory, love and loyalty in the starkest and most darkest of circumstances. Pinter Day is at the Bridport Arts Centre, South Street, on Saturday 30 January from 2.30pm. Call box office for ticket details and times on 01308 424204. |
