As in the past, there will be fun and games for the young and those who are young at heart. There will also be games, prize draws, a grand summer raffle and a large tombola, together with entertainment throughout the day. The now famous Silent Auction which runs until 3pm, contains many beautiful items ranging from paintings, jewellery, glass and silverware, a flight for 3 people in a Piper Cessna aircraft over Dorset and much, much more. In addition there will be games for children and adults, ‘Spider Man’ inflatable, plus attractions such as static displays by ‘Golden Wings Motorcycles’, ‘Vehicles of Yesteryear’ and ‘The Traction Engine Boys’. Refreshments will be served throughout the day, together with a BBQ and ice creams. New attractions for this year will include a Children’s Fancy Dress competition on the theme of ‘Recycling & Your Environment’, ‘Most Glamorous Grandmother’ and one for the men, ‘Knobbly Knees Contest’. Entry forms are available from the Trust Office or you can enter on the day. As a local charity the Joseph Weld & Trimar Hospice and CancerCare Dorset Trust depends to a very large extent on the financial support it receives from the communities which it serves and events such as this fete are essential to its continued ability to offer its specialist medical, nursing and associated care. For further details please contact Sue Leighton, Fundraising Manager at the Trust Office Telephone: 01305 215315 I know it's in Dorch and that's out of Bridport jurisdiction but it's for a good cause. -Ed
