An overview of the crimes committed between June 28th and July 5th in Bridport and the surrounding area, can be seen below.
1] Overnight Tuesday 27th June a CD changer unit speakers and accessories were stolen from a vehicle parked in North Street. Another unattended vehicle in St Michael’s lane had valuables stolen from it at approximately 6pm on Tuesday 4th July. 2] Overnight Wednesday 28th June aerials were snapped off cars in Victoria grove. 3] A new pair of ladies Bianca trousers was stolen from a washing line overnight Thursday 29th June at a premise in the east street area of town. 4] At approximately 2.45pm on Friday 30th June cosmetics were stolen by a male and female on from a display in Superdrug stores in West Street. 5] At approximately 10.15am on Saturday 1st July a cash holder was stolen from a market traders stall in West Street. The victim gave Chase and one of the people responsible lost one of their sandals but got away.
6] On Saturday 1st July at approximately 3.45pm an attempted theft of a trolley worth of goods took place at Somerfields stores.
7] At 10.30pm on Saturday 1st July an alarm panel was damaged causing it to activate at a premise in the hallway Port Bredy in Barrack Street. 8] Overnight Saturday 1st July damage occurred to a window of a property in Mead fields, it is believed the damage was caused by an air pellet. Damage also occurred during the same period to a business premise in East Street when a large window was smashed. 9] Several tyres were cut and on a vehicle parked in Princess of Wales court area in the early hours of Sunday 2nd July. 10] Overnight Sunday 2nd July a bicycle was stolen from outside a premise in Cherry Tree. Another bicycle this time a gents “Rockhopper” with a yellow frame was stolen from outside another property in North Mills area of town during over the same period.
Other crimes have been reported around the Bridport town area over the past 7 days. However, in order to maintain sensitivity to the victims and not to prejudice ongoing investigations, these will not be included. 7 Arrests were made during the same period: -
1x assault actual bodily harm 1x common assault 1x theft shoplifting 2x criminal damage 1 x driving whilst unfit 1x positive breath test SUMMARY Thefts from motor vehicles are again becoming an issue have increased during the last few weeks this includes when parked at beauty spots and in residential areas. To help deter activity of this type, please take simple steps to remove items and secure them out of sight. Better still, if there is no need for items of value to be in your car, then secure them in your home and avoid attracting attention to your vehicle unnecessarily.
