We are delighted to announce Home-Start West Dorset has been awarded £8,483 from the BBC Children in Need Appeal. The money has been awarded to help fund volunteers’ training, travel and expenses across the West Dorset District Council area for the next two years.
Helen Horsley of Home-Start West Dorset said “We are absolutely thrilled by this generous award from the BBC Children in Need Appeal. It means we can now go forward with our plans to recruit and train up to 30 volunteers to help families in need in West Dorset. The first course has started in Bridport and will be followed by a further course in the Dorchester area later in the year.”
We were visited by Pudsey and Claire Cannock, the Regional Officer for BBC Children in Need who said “BBC Children in Need is very pleased to support Home Start West Dorset especially at such an early and exciting stage of the project, and we look forward to seeing the fantastic results it achieves locally.” Home-Start West Dorset is training volunteers so we can offer a local service to support families with young children. All parents know that those early years before children go off to school are vital in a child’s life and at Home-Start we believe parents have the key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. At Home-Start we support any parent with young children who asks for our help and our supported families, like our volunteers, come from all walks of life. If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Helen Horsley on 01308 800031. Home-Start West Dorset Bridport Children’s Centre, Skilling Hill Road, Bridport DT6 5LA
