West Bay Harbour
Over the week there was 5 reported breaks and thefts from boats moored in West Bay which occurred around April 26th. In certain cases entry was gained and valuables were stolen from within. The Items stolen consisted of small high value articles. I ask that all owners and operators of all boats where possible to remove any items of value to reduce the risk of loss of damage and when possible to maintain extra vigilance when boats are moored in the harbour.
Diving and swimming from the harbour Another message in conjunction with the Harbour Master relates to reports of youths diving and jumping into the harbour. Not only are certain areas of the harbour designated no swimming or diving, the individuals who go in to the water are at risk from moving vessels and strong undercurrents. West Bay is a working harbour and not an appropriate place to swim at any time of the day. With the holiday season ahead all steps will be taken to enforce this legislation, with the aim ultimately to prevent any accidents to people and damage property alike. If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries: it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction. Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide. Contact the police station direct, or speak to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 – all calls will be treated in confidence. PC 2232 Scott McGregor Community Beat Officer |
