A RIGHT CLOCK UP E-mail

ImageBridport town council have taken up a sponsorship deal from industry giant Coca Cola as part of the ongoing revamping of the town hall, Coca Cola are putting forward £170,000 to install a new digital display to replace the existing old fashioned time piece. A council spokesperson said “it will also tell the date and ambient temperature and will be handy for commuters using the new monorail ”
The spokesman went on to say "we dont want to break with tradition so the new clock will be programmed to beep thirteen times when ringing in the new year (read about it...)".

Animal rights campaigners fears that the proposed work will disturb the Bucky Doo pigeon and gull population were allayed when they were told that their eggs will be kept incubated by bathing in the neon glow of the “Time sponsored by Coca Cola” sign

Lighting the McWay

ImageIn keeping with the town hall renovations, fast food giant McDonalds has stepped in to sponsor the famous Colmers Hill in order to maintain a steady footing in the area. Concerns have been raised over the grazing beef cattle in the area beginning to show signs of paranoia, and the villagers of Symondsbury are now up in arms over light pollution. One villager says:“It’s like an arctic summer down here. There is no night and the birds are starting to act strange.”
A spokesman from McDonalds confirms that “McDonalds is proud to sponsor the icon that symbolises Bridport and it’s beautiful surrounding areas. We are currently in plans for a chain of McPubs and a McBrewery, which seems to have met with a resounding positive response in the area.”

I think Robert Ridge should be nominated. He certainly is a local hero, as well as being known worldwide through the BMX community. He puts huge amounts of his time and money into keeping the Bridport skateparks open, so that the kids have somewhere to go and do what they love. He also has a hand in helping Lyme in their quest for a new skatepark. He is the nicest guy you could ever meet and is busy enough in his own life without devoting his time to these projects.

I did that too - no response as yet although a Journalist from the Telegraph contacted me about it and is writing another piece using Bridport Radio as a more realistic view of the locals see The Telegraph Weekend/property section on the 17/3/07 - Ed
