Nutmeg are Matthew Oakley and Simon Mathewson, two Exeter based musicians (Simon is originally from Bridport). Matthew came up for the idea of Nutmeg after hearing psychedelic medieval folksters Circulus. Nutmeg are a 70’s folk/prog parody band, but done with love and respect of the genres.
Recorded over 18 months “Camelot Calling” their 14 track CD, kicks off in a fairly folky manner but side two sees a change of pace with a rockier edge as folk gives way to prog and we have the Arthurian legend brought to life through lyrics and music. At the moment they have no plans for gigs and are working on a new project Specific Dream Rabbit.
