CRIME UPDATE 13 MAY E-mail

Crimes of note recently reported include

• Overnight Sunday May 11th a Mercedes was broken into and items stolen from within whilst it was parked in South Street.

• In the early hours of Saturday May 10th criminal damage occurred in West Street and South Street [See below].

• At about 4pm Thursday May 8th two male shoplifters stole an aquarium pump valued at approximately £20 from Groves The Nursery.

• At 2pm on Thursday 8th May elderly resident in the Puncknowle area was victim to a burglary. A male tricked her after stating a nearby tree needed work. Once the male was inside the property valuables were stolen.

Other crimes have been reported over the same period of time, however in the interests and wishes of the victims and not to prejudice any investigations these will not be reported on.
  
Criminal damage

Another spate of wanton criminal damage has occurred in Bridport this time to the mortgage centre, West Street and to a 4 vehicles in South Street. These incidents occurred in the early hours of Saturday May 10th.
The mortgage centre had 2 large panes of plate glass broken and a number of vehicles have been attacked causing wing mirrors have be broken off.

An appeal for witnesses to these incidents is sought. If you are aware of anyone bragging about similar incidents or where a family member or a friend has a recent or fresh injury to their hands or bragging about causing damage, then you are asked to contact us at the Police station.

Over the last 7 days the following arrests took place:

1x Possession / supply class A controlled drugs
1x Assault actual bodily harm
1x Breaching bail conditions.
1x Dangerous driving
1x Making threats to kill
1x Detained under the mental health act.

If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries:  it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.  Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide.
