CRIME UPDATE 6/5 E-mail

Over the last 7 days the following arrests took place:

1x Assault actual bodily harm
2x Breaching of an anti social behaviour order – being drunk and disorderly.
1x Common assault
1x Public disorder- intentionally causing another to be in fear of violence
1x Theft – shoplifting 

Crimes of note recently reported include


•    At 2300hrs bank holiday Monday a couple aged in their 40’s were both arrested by officers in the area of St Michael’s lane for breaching an anti social behaviour order.

•    At approximately 1530hrs bank holiday Monday a 15-year-old female from Bridport was arrested for a theft – shoplifting from Superdrugs Stores West Street.

•    At 0150hrs Saturday May 3rd a 23-year old local man from West Bay was arrested for putting another in fear of unlawful violence and was outside the Greyhound pub - by threatening to assault and stab the victim.

•    At approximately 0130hrs Sunday May 4th a vicious assault occurred outside the Beach and Barnicote where a 41year old male was punched in the face several times knocking him to the floor, whilst there he was stamped on – causing further injury. A 32-year old local man has been arrested for this assault.
If you were outside at the time then I would expect to hear from you and for you to become a witness regarding this particular nasty assault.

•    A number of burglaries and attempted burglaries occurred in the Bridport town area overnight Tuesday 29th April. When several premises in West Allington were broken into including Balson and Sons the Butchers and then later in Bellas in South Street. In the last two incidents cash was stolen from within.

Other crimes have been reported over the same period of time, however in the interests and wishes of the victims and not to prejudice any investigations these will not be reported on.
        

Wanton damage to motor vehicles

A spate of wanton criminal damage to vehicles has occurred in St Andrews road these incidents have been taking place predominantly on Friday and Saturday nights.
These reported incidents are where wing mirrors have been broken off parked cars. There have been a number of similar incidents of damage over a number of weekends where other vehicles in the vicinity have been subject to similar types of damage. An appeal for witnesses to these incidents is sought and also if you have not already reported damage to your vehicle in the vicinity of St Andrew’s road- then please do so.
If you are aware of anyone bragging about similar incidents or where a family member or a friend has a recent or fresh injury to their hands or showing or bragging about causing damage, then you are asked to contact Pc Gordon Kille would like to hear from you.

If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries:  it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.  Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide.
