CRIME UPDATE 29/4 E-mail

Over the last 7 days the following arrests took place:
1x Assault GBH
1x Common Assault
1x Warrant
2x Public disorder
1x Theft shoplifting
2 x Theft and false accounting.

Crimes of note recently reported include

•    Overnight Wednesday 23rd April threats to kill were made to a resident in the area of Alexandra road. A male in 20’s is wanted for questioning in relation to this incident.

•    At 1400hrs Thursday 24th April a shoplifting occurred in Morrison’s Bridport. Alcohol namely whiskey was stolen. A male shoplifter in his 30’s was arrested and the alcohol recovered.

•    At approximately 1640hrs Thursday 24th April a theft occurred at the Recycling Centre, Bridport. An offender visited the location in a vehicle and stole a television.

•    At approximately 5 pm on Thursday 24th April another theft and false accounting occurred in Morrison’s store to the value of £149.00.Two people arrested and are currently on bail.

•    At approximately 0040hrs Saturday 26th April a male was arrested after causing a public disorder incidents outside the Beach and Barnicott. This was after engaging in threatening behaviour and throwing a glass into a crowd of people.

•    At 2140hrs Friday 25th April a 14-year-old female was arrested for a public disorder offence and was subsequently given a caution in custody.

•    On Saturday 26th April Carphone Warehouse West Street had a Nokia N95 and accessories were stolen from a display.

•    At approximately 0200hrs Saturday 26th April a 20 year old female assaulted an officer and was arrested for a public disorder offence. In custody the female was then discovered to be in possession of drugs . A further search at her home address also located drugs on the premises.

Other crimes have been reported over the same period of time, however in the interests and wishes of the victims and not to prejudice any investigations these will not be reported on.

Unprovoked attack

At approximately 2315hrs Sunday 27th April a male victim in his 20’s was walking in the area of Hanover court. He was carrying flowers on route to visit friends. When for no reason a male wearing a ‘hoody’ or similar approached him and after being abusive assaulted the victim punching him in the face. This caused cuts and swelling to the victim’s face, which needed treatment by paramedics.
