The Martin Harley Band single "One for the road" is out on the 16th of June and their album "Grow Your Own" was released on the 14th of April. They have been compared to Jack Johnson, Eric Bibb etc, but the album tells a very different story!
In 2005 Martin took part in what is now officially the “Highest Gig in the World”, playing at 21,000 feet up in the Himalaya. This was for a charity called Nepal Balbalika. They have also donated a track for an album called "Let It Grow" which features tracks by The Who, PJ Harvey, J.J. Cale, Eric Clapton, Paul Weller and many more. The compilation was to raise money for a charity 'Rural Revival' which aims to break the cycle of rural decline through enterprise-based community self help.
In early 2006 he spent 6 weeks wandering though Mali, Guinea and Senegal in the company of some of the finest indigenous musicians of those countries. He also attended Toumani Diabate's music school for a while and played with Vieux Farka Toure (Son of Ali Farka Toure), Sherriff, Bassekou Kouyate and Lobi Traore. He also enrolled in a buddhist monastery whilst in Thailand!!
They are currently touring the UK, and then off to Scandanavia, France, Germany and Holland.
