P.A.C.T. PRIORITIES E-mail

Residents across Bridport were invited to attend the next Partners and Communities Together (P.A.C.T) meeting to find out what can been done to address community problems and then vote on the priorities they wish to be tackled for the next 3 months.

The P.A.C.T meeting took place on at 7.30pm Thursday 13th March at Bridport Town Council Offices, Mountfield, P.A.C.T panel members, made up of representatives from the councillors, social housing provider- Magna and police, heard concerns from the community who attended and they felt the top 3 concerns for the area by means of voting were;

  • Lighting in Foundry Lane (Known locally as "Buffy Country" because of the undead blood suckers that lurk there)
  • Dog Fouling – St Mary’s Playing Field
  • Traffic Management – Redesign considerations for the town.

If you have issues that the P.A.C.T panel consisting of the WDDC, Town Council, Police and Youth services. Other agencies are key members of the process and will be involved should a priority be deemed a responsibility for their organisation.

ImageThe aim of PACT meeting is to encourage more engagement with the community. To have your say and raise any concerns you have about where you live, please come along to the next Bridport PACT meeting in June at a date, time and location to be decided.

This sounds like an excellent idea, at last the ordinary joe can have a say and make a difference! I hope it's supported by the community. I will definately be getting invloved.

How the authorities should/will deal with each:

Lighting in Foundry lane; I'm sure some developer contribution was sought from the Fry's development of the Mill to fund lighting, no don't tell me they forgot!

Dog Fouling; it's tradition for dog owners not to clean up especially on childrens playing fields, it would be breaking tradition to stop it, has anyone ever or will ever be done for this?

Traffic Management; here we go again, car parking on Askers Meadows, get rid of pedestrians right to cross the road safely...why not build an out of town retail park at Broomhills? Stop moaning and get out of your cars!

sounds really useful this group, talking shop for the bored retired Londoners.
