Crimes of note recently reported include • During the afternoon Wednesday 5th March a shoulder bag and all of the contents were stolen from the Arts Centre. • Overnight Thursday 6th March a Mitsubishi pick up was stolen from the area of the abattoir in Mangerton Lane. • Overnight Thursday 6th March damage occurred to a window of the Lord Nelson pub in East Street. • On Saturday an insecure ‘ Muddy Fox’ bicycle was reported stolen from the rear of a premises in St Andrew’s road.
• Overnight Saturday 8th March a burglary occurred in the area of Crewkerne Place, Bridport. Items were stolen from the address after a window was smashed and the thief reached in and stole property. • During the afternoon of Sunday 9th March a silver coloured ‘Claude Butler’ bicycle was stolen from the area of St Mary’s playing fields.
Other crimes have been reported over the same period of time, however in the interests and wishes of the victims and not to prejudice any investigations these will not be reported on. Over the last 7 days the following arrests took place: 1x Theft 3x Assault 4x Criminal damage 1xPossession class ‘A’ controlled drugs 1x Warrant failing to appear in court 1x Protection from harassment Stolen Purses and Handbags  Is yours UNATTENDED! Over the last few weeks there has been a number of reports relating to the thefts of bags and purses being stolen at various locations in town. On several occasions bags have been left unattended in busy venues such as pubs and bars.
Owners have left their possessions for a brief moment only to find that an opportunist thief has struck stealing various personal valuables.
Other thefts have also occurred when staff in shops have left their valuables in insecure locations around their place of work. Please do not fall into the trap of assuming that your valuables are safe because a lot of people are around.
Lock your valuables in a secure part of you premise or other safe areas in your place of work.If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries: it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.
