On Thursday 20th March 2008, The Great Gig in the Sky are set to take Bridport by storm at The Electric Palace, South Street. The band features musicians from various local bands, The Crack, Motel 6, The Sidekicks and includes Jess Upton on vocals for the eponymous track The Great Gig in the Sky.
Jess says
"We first performed about 13 years ago, at a sell out show at the Weymouth Pavillion. We were all really big fans of the band, with most of us having seen them at some point. It started out as something that we just all really wanted to do for fun, and then we thought why not make a show out of it?"
Since then we're put on shows every couple of years, but recently we've decided that we all loved doing it so much, that we would try and do it on a more regular basis. So we've got gigs up and down the country for nearly every month of this year. When we first started we did the Dark Side of the Moon and a few other favourites like Shine On and The Wall, but now we're doing a much broader range of their songs"
Featuring (often Pink Floyd's original) visuals, lights and possibly a big bang to finish, this is an evening not to be missed....
Tickets cost £10 and can be brought from the Bridport Record Centre, or on the door. Doors open at 8pm.
