Imitation Firearms Amnesty

Dorset Police recently launched an imitation firearms amnesty. The type of articles includes BB guns, blank firing, air soft, deactivated firearm or any article that resemble a firearm.
Imitation firearms are almost indistinguishable from the real thing – which can cause great fear and distress to anyone who perceives them to be real. This could result in you being challenged by armed Police officers.
The amnesty will last for a month and I would urge you to take the opportunity to surrender any similar items in your possession.
Anyone surrendering articles needs to do this in a responsible manner, by carrying it out of public view safely and securely and in the case of anyone under 18yrs of age to be in the company of an adult.

Bicycle Coding

On Saturday 8th March Volunteers of the crime prevention panel will be conducting bicycle coding at Bridport Police station for a price of £1 per bicycle throughout the day from 10.30am until 3.30pm.
When a bicycle is stolen and recovered often it can’t be identified. When details like home postcode and house number are engraved or stamped on the frame it does help.
Even if a thief has taken steps to permanently deprive the rightful owner by repainting a bike coding can prove invaluable in identifying it as stolen property, thus allow return to it’s rightful owner.

If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries:  it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.  Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide.
Contact the police station direct, or speak to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 – all calls will be treated in confidence
