Bridport Arts Centre, one of the ten organisations in Dorset regularly funded by Arts Council England, has just been notified that their funding will be renewed for the next three years.
During the last year more than three thousand adults and youngsters took part in workshops organised by Bridport Arts Centre. Arts Centre director Lindsay Brooks said, “We’ve had a vote of confidence in our work from this news. From April we will receive funding in line with inflation and for the following two years, there will be a very welcome increase. This year’s amount represents fourteen percent of our budget. Compared with many other arts organisations, we generate a higher percentage of our own income. The Arts Council told us that the award recognises the success of the organisational development work in the last three years, resulting in a significant shift in the numbers of people engaging in our work and in the quality and quantity of new work produced by artists with our support. We appreciate the funding we receive not only from the Arts Council but also from Bridport Town Council and West Dorset District Council, which allows us to achieve this.” Arts Council England, South West Executive Director Nick Capaldi said, ”Bridport Arts Centre enjoys extraordinary success in reaching the wider community in Dorset with innovative, vibrant participatory programmes. Our increased funding recognises and rewards these achievements.” |
