Carolyne Kardia studied at St Martin's School of Art and then at the Royal College of Art, receiving her MA in sculpture in 1977. She began working in colour in 1987 and has continued developing the use of pigment in varying ways. "The colours aim to speak of themselves, to be dissociated from their method of application and soar above themselves but equally they are rooted in the materiality of pigment and surface." www.carolynekardia.co.uk |

I paint and draw in response to light and air, rain and wind, the time of the day, the turn of the tide. I paint in the coastal marshes, on the River Axe, along Chesil Beach, in my garden and in my studio in Wootton Fitzpaine. Paintings are mainly oils on canvas, board or paper but I also use watercolour and charcoal. Tel: 01297 560800 |
When she is not painting the ancient landscape of Dorset, Rosie especially enjoys painting in France and Morocco. These very different subjects inspire a wide range of approaches, using media as varied as oil, acrylic, dyes and water colour, but though very diverse, her work is unified by a passionate interest in colour and a desire to look beneath the surface of her subject and explore ambiguities. As well as landscape Rosie also paints flowers, still- life and the occasional portrait. www.rosiebritton.co.uk |
Gerry Dudgeon studied painting at Camberwell School of Art, London and Reading University and has lived in Beaminster since 1987. His semi-abstract canvases evoke the colours and cultural richness of Morocco, India and Greece which he visits regularly. Website: www.gerrydudgeon.com |
