I was on my usual nightly walk with my two german shepherds on the 25.5.07 around the Allington Hill / Coopers Wood area when I had a ghostly encounter with what seemed to be a male dog walker dressed all in black. This is the second late night sighting i have had in 2 weeks and i can assure that I am a fit bodied and minded person and had no alcohol prior to the sighting. A neighbour said I am not the first to see this and I would like to know if there has been any other reports made of a sighting or similar. anon.
The new medical centre in West Allington has been handed over to the NHS and is opening on Tuesday 29th May 2007. The old medical centre is being bulldozed and the footprint used to construct houses the size of shoeboxes.
BridportRadio MD Doctor Malicious, will not be moving anywhere and can still be found here...
Did anyone see Great British Menu on BBC 2? our local lad and chef MARK HIX won the national competition. In fact he will cook 2 meals out of 4 for the French in the English high commission in France. Rabbit pie (stargazey pie) for the main coarse and fruit jelly with ice-cream for the pudding. Well done Mark. it goes to show that us Bridders folk are just as good or better than those outsiders that arrive in Bridport and think we are all country bumpkins down here. also mark went to Weymouth college so it shows you can get on round here with out going away to fancy colleges. he started chefing at Bridport arms in his school days. well done for mark and what a pity his dad was not alive to see him (knowing Ernie he was up there supping a pint looking down .lol) Cordless

i wonder if any of you can shed any light on the peculiar and thorny subject of racism in Dorset?
I have lived in this county for over thirty years, and have encountered it on several occasions. What surprises me, is who they are... upstanding folk: farmers, shop keepers, voluntary workers.....is goes like this; a black man crosses the road at the lights and the person in the car sitting next to me says "there are a lot of THEM around these days?".. this is presumably to check out my view... I met a BNP rep on rememerance sunday... only knew this as he had an interesting little badge (enamel furled union jack) and i commented on it.
Well if anyone can help me here? racists or none racists I would be glad to hear? What is IT ALL ABOUT??
The Toby Jug in South Street Bridport, Dorset is under new ownership and has been bought by experienced caterers Matt Beard, Nina Warren and their four year old son Jack. Matt and Nina have big plans for the business and have already changed the name of the business to Café Bean and plan a complete refurbishment and modernisation of the premises by the end of the year in order to reflect their new image and trading style. Matt, an experienced chef who has worked in numerous four star West country hotels and Nina who has worked as a restaurant manager, previously ran their own hotel in Devon, prior to buying Café Bean.
Cordless was asking about MSC Napoli latest. With help and direction from our Town Council administrator, I found the following information. Sorry cordless, the damn thing is still there, still spewing oil. Read on, and I hope this answers your question. Cheers, Bungle.
I have just picked up a copy of the Marshwood Vale Magazine which is now (eventually) been printed on better paper to do justice to the wonderful photographs they print. Well they have a competition "Community Awards" and I have voted for Bridport Radio (in the community group section) because as well as entertaining me for hours (to the detriment of my work) it is also very useful and informative - Just the job!
So I think you, my fellow reader should get voting for Bridport Radio too. - FG
The Dorset Cider Apple Project Tree Hunt 2007 - In 1796 Dorset had 10,000 acres of orchards. Now all we see are remenats of a once thriving industry. In our search for for old cider apple trees we hope to put dorset back on the map as a quality cider-making county.
