ON HOLIDAY

Bridport resident and TV antiques expert Paul Atterbury has penned a new book celebrating the old-fashioned British holiday. The book, "On Holiday - the Way We Were", explores where we stayed, what we wore, where we went, how we got there and what we did while on holiday in days gone by. Using predominantly amateur photographs from family albums alongside postcards, publicity material and a range of ephemera from the Edwardian era to the 1970s, it is a delightful snapshot of holiday life in 20th-century Britain.

Friday 10th October - Boy Le Monti - 9:00pm at The Ropemakers, East Street, Bridport. Playing the finest vintage ska and rock steady tunes. The band will be judging our audience's dancing; the more peculiar the better. There are exciting prizes for the bands most favourite movers.

THE KISS BALL

The Kiss Charity Ball was held on Saturday 20th September at Highway Farm, Bridport and was enjoyed by 290 invited guests who were entertained by various artistes, a taste of music and dance from Malawi, an African cocktail bar and then danced the evening away to the music of local band ‘The Side Kicks’. The evening was ably compared by Wayne Monroe. The Ball was organised by Pauline Bale with a committee made up of ten of her friends and family and was a continuation of the fund raising Kiss Cookbook written by Pauline, which has to date raised £2500 for Cancer Research and £500 for the Malawi Project. What the Committee aimed to create was a truly memorable evening whilst raising lots of money for their chosen charities.
