CRIME UPATE 01 OCT E-mail

Over the last 7 days a number of crimes were reported to us some of  these included;

• A number of criminal damage incidents occurred in the vicinity of Nursery gardens and Longs Lane. These occurred over the weekend of Saturday 29th September. Over the same weekend a Fiat Punto was damaged whilst it was parked in the area of East Street.

• Overnight Thursday 27th September a car parked in the area of Court close had the bodywork was scratched and emulsion paint was thrown on it.Image

• Diesel fuel was syphoned from a number of parked lorries overnight Thursday 27th September from a compound in Sea Road South. A similar incident occurred the previous evening when a number of lorries had diesel syphoned from the fuel tanks whilst they were parked in the vicinity of The Dreadnought Trading Estate.

• A parked vehicle had its number plate stolen in the area of St Swithins road overnight Tuesday 25th September.

• At approximately 1130hrs on Tuesday 25th September ‘Uppercuts’ hair salon in Bucky-doo Square had a window smashed at the front of the premise.

• A parked vehicle was subject to an attempted theft of fuel. This occurred in the Gore Cross area of town overnight Monday 24th September.

• A small stone or pellet was used to break the window of a parked empty bus in the vicinity of Tannery Road at approximately 1pm on Monday 25th of September.

I would ask all residents to be aware of individuals seen loitering around parked vehicles. Vans or similar sized vehicle that may have fuel drums in the rear or items that could be utilised to syphon fuel are of particular interest to us. If any incidents are witnessed, try and take note of any vehicle registrations, descriptions and number of occupants.

By taking some precautions such as fitting a locking fuel cap, parking your vehicle near the area where street lighting is present. This may deter and prevent similar situations occurring.

Over the last week 8 arrests were made:

1 x assault actual bodily harm
2 x common assault
1 x driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drugs
1 x disorderly behaviour- causing an affray
1 x possession of controlled drugs
1 x driving a motor vehicle without a valid driving license or insurance.
1 x detained under the mental health act

If you have any information regarding the above offences or any other crimes, then please come forward and help us with our enquiries:  it may be your evidence, which successfully secures a conviction.  Instead of accepting that crime is part of the Bridport society, let’s give the courts the facts and allow them to decide.

Contact the police station direct, or speak to Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 – all calls will be treated in confidence

BRIDPORT POLICE CHARITY BALL

ImageI would like to invite the Bridport community to participate in the Police Charity Ball, which will be held on Saturday November 24th at Freshwater Holiday Park.

Last year over 180 people danced the night away to fabulous music from local band The Sidekicks, in a venue transformed by a local video projections artist and illuminated flags to create a real party atmosphere.  Over a £1000 was raised for local good causes, including children’s nurseries, youth projects, elderly and disabled drop in centres.

I’d personally like to thank all those who donated prizes for the auction and raffle and ask that any similar donations would gratefully received to raise money once again.

The ball is a great community event, and I’d like once again to thank everyone who came along last year and joined us again the fun and to come along again.

Tickets will be on sale at the tourist information office in Bridport and at Bridport Police station priced at £21.
