But can the local eateries cope with all this hype? Trying to get a meal in Bridport on Saturday evening was impossible - unless it was Ethnic. I'm sure if the owners of The Bull had been in evidence on Saturday evening they would have recognised us as a local foursome who have been eating there since the day they opened their doors. We've eaten in the rain in the Courtyard, had extended lunch times eating Moules and Champagne, brought our Mothers out for lunch,in January>February but not May, June and July. No sign of the Management, just very enthusiastic young staff who told us they had sixty people booked for dinner and no room for us. This was at seven o'clock in the evening. Ready to order, happy to sit outside, drink much, talk lots and spend our pennies. The whole sixty weren't there as the bookings were spread over the evening. We were turned away. Turned away from another Eaterie too even though we had a table, ready to order and would have had a drink or several. We ended up in the East Street Indian, made welcome, it was full but at least they know how to manage their bookings and are willing to accept four local hungry strays.

Judging by the content of his posts I would say that Rustic does think before he writes, he just doesn’t think like you and your chum realworld. It is interesting when taking a closer look at your words when you say ""you lot secretly like it"" and the ""grunts do protest to much"" I take that to mean the local population who are prepared to say or write what a lot of local people (that means people who live here) think, but being ""grunts"" don't articulate very well. How generous of you to describe the inhabitants of this wonderful spot in such ingratiating warm friendly terms. You may wonder why the likes of Carlito, Rustic and many others take an instant dislike to people with the ""we know what’s best for you"" attitude that you sardonically spew forth, it is because taking an ""instant"" dislike saves time.

I've just invested in a rather over-sized Range Rover, married a polo playing Sloane Ranger and am now looking into developing a corparate health spa in Cherry Tree. Am I getting any closer to the Great British dream?

Tuzo, do you have ANY opinion on the issue of your local town's inflicted branding or are your opinions soley reserved for the people on this site that actually care about their town? ...oh and get off that high horse, it doesn't suit you.

Posted by Rosieo6, on 12-05-2007 16:05,
Glad to see you are as superior as ever tuzo.It is so obvious that you can only have an opinion if you read 'the right' newspapers.I wish I'd thought of it before as I have missed so much in my life.I could be owning my own house by now and been so much better off... But the downside is that I would have to be someone I'm not and mix with people I don't really like.

Comments overheard, in a Notting Hill kinda way, on Saturday morning as we strolled through town. 'Not much of a market is it?' I overcame the strong desire to smack them.

i have said what my opinion is on the so called ""branding"" of Bridport, do try and keep up carlito. not sure reading the ""right"" paper gets you a house Rosieo6? or entitles you to opinions, or changes your personality or makes you mix with people you dont like.. what was the name of that paper anyway??

Posted by Real World, on 14-05-2007 11:04,
The ""Not much of a market"" comment I think, relates to a lot of visitors' thoughts on Bridport. Personally, I really like the town , market, pubs etc - the somewhat frayed around the edges feel - but I'm sure a lot of folk who have read the NHOS stuff in the papers will be a bit disappointed not to find wall to wall brasseries, chic boutiques and the like. So, all of you who fear Bridport will be taken over by London based thrill-seekers, breath again. All will be well.

Tuzo. Records show that the closest you have come to an opinion on this whole issue (which is spread across many threads: Weekender's Go Home, Bloody Townies, Here We Go Again, and And Again.) is this post here: QUOTE: Written by tuzo, on Friday 13 April 2007 so much anger.. make me wonder what you are all frightened of? change? affordable housing is a real issue, but the underlying spite and mistrust of ""non locals"" is tragic, burn em? and you complain you are seen as pitchfork weilders? YOU ARE... but hiding behind anonimity here. No point in saying grow up, its too late for that. Please note Tuzo that the only part of the above most that represents your opinion on THE ISSUE is where you confirm that it is a ""REAL ISSUE"". The rest of this post, and 99% of all of your other posts has been pure comment on the reactions of others. Tuzo - I'm trying to encourage you to contribute here, rather than winding me up like mosquito buzzing in my ear.

Posted by tuzo, on 14-05-2007 20:34,
well the ""ISSUE"" (carlito) at the moment seems to be your objection to the way i express myself? that is your problem, not mine, and if you have buzzing in your ear i suggest you see a doctor, meanwhile i shall continue to express myself in whatever way i choose.. (thats what you do isnt it?)

Posted by tuzo, on 14-05-2007 23:05,
and didnt you say (carlito) that there was no bigger picture (issue) save your personal dislike of a person, and that you found them repulsive? you win the black pot/kettle contest.. by yards.. What an ego!!

Posted by Rosieo6, on 14-05-2007 23:13,
It's not my edges that are frayed!Think I have tinnitus,oh,no it's just a buzzing noise..

Tuzo, if this thread were a picnic, Realworld would be the threatening dark clouds on the horizon, and you'd be the ants nest that some idiot put the blanket on. Yes I have an ego, what is wrong with it? I like my ego, everyone has one. It has taken years to develop! We'd all be buggered without one. Don't you have an ego Tuzo? Well you must be closer to God than I thought. My comment to Realworld about returning to the bigger picture was simply me trying to get him to argue with me on a personal level rather than commenting on our local issues that don't really concern him. Surely that was obvious Tuzo? Editor - may I recommend that this thread is closed until any further unsightly news articles appear? This is getting tedeous. Unless, of course we can make this an official slagging match thread.

...everyone is entitled to their point of view and sure a bit of banter is alright, but skilled chatsmen with such razor wit such as yourselves are wasting your time (and mine) with this backbiting. So I am challenging you (especially Tuzo and Carlito) to write an article on something else, there must be other issues you feel strongly about.

Posted by tuzo, on 16-05-2007 10:30,
your absolutely right (ed)this is just going round and round in circles, i will try to resist taunting in future, and will be more serious. yes carlito i do have an ego, although i have always been more interested in my ""id"" (as you might have noticed?) oh,and if i do have to be an insect... could i be a dragonfly or even a daddy long legs?
