Real world.Have just read your post and am really sorry you have such a bad impression of Bridport.I don't blame you for thinking that way.I hope that you do pop back and read this. I have lived in Bridport or surrounding area my whole life and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.I also wouldn't want to see another 'alchohol fuelled' Beach and Barnicott type incident in the town ever again either.

May I go out on a limb here and offer a simple and cost efective solution to the whole debacle? One well placed man with a high volocity rifle and telescopic sight could bring house prices down like a rat out of an aquaduct. No one would want to live in Bridders town after a series of indescriminate snipings. We could kill two birds with one stone. Demolish the rising house prices in bridders and reduce the drug induced crime spree all in one fell swoop, (not to mention the 'white market trader van parking on the traffic lights outside the town hall every market day which causes a very serious and real danger to pedestrians and road users, which I might add is habitually ignored by the town council in exchange for their 30 pieces of market silver). All we need is the right man for the job, (this is where I come in). May I tentatively suggest my humble services. Being an ex-marine/certified psychopathic anorexic with a nervous twitch, I fit the bill perfectly. The good town of Bridport, The Bat wawiats your answer.

i am guessing, carlito that a lot of your attitudes, theories etc are a little exaggerated (for devilment perhaps?) but what concerns me is the steady flow of obiedient fans who follow them.....how do you do it?
Posted by Rosieo6, on 31-03-2007 16:37,
I would still want to live here Bat, may never leave the house again but still.A question Bat, is the nervous twitch like the one the bloke had in carryon films? If yes the seagulls wud probably suffer more! Aaand wud you be up the phonemast on Colmers Hill to get a good view?

Tuzo...you're right I'm not local. In West Dorset terms I'm still a grockle, and will be until my great great great grand children are born into this town. I simply enjoy a damn good band wagon when I see one.

Quote ""but what concerns me is the steady flow of obiedient fans who follow them.....how do you do it?"" Tuzo, I'm flattered. However I am turning over a new leaf, as it's far too much effort maintaining this level of abuse. Equally - when, inevitably, my true identity is revealed at the Bridport Radio Party (should that fantasy ever become reality Mr Head), I'd rather leave comatosed due to alchohol, than comatosed due to repeated bludgeoning of the head. I am quite passionate about keeping Bridport geniune, unique and creative, and HOME to people that live here. BUT I also REALLY DESPISE being talked down to, which was my real beef with Realworld. He was patronising, self-promoting, and going about making chums in entirely the wrong way...(although I must admit that I am not an expert in that particular field either).
Posted by tuzo, on 04-04-2007 16:37,
i dont know if he was really talking down to you(carlito) was he? i will have to have another look.It could be the stress levels induced by your pre turning over leaf status? (could have put that better) I understand your passion about bridport but the why dont you go back to where you came from? theme, rang uncomfortable bells for me and maybe anyone else who is not native to this country, even though i am sure it was meant in a light hearted way

Has anyone seen fight club? Cameras everywhere

Tuzo I'm starting to feel like you trying to give me therapy. Pigeon-holing my ""theme"" as a ""why don't you go back to where you came from?"" theme, is troubling me greatly. It's as if you are pushing me into a BNP corner! This couldn't be further from the kind of person I am. I am not going to defend myself any further on this point because 'over defense' may appear suspicious...to you in particular Tuzo. Please stop trying to deconstruct me, and I'm sorry if I rang uncomfortable bells with you.
Posted by tuzo, on 11-04-2007 11:00,
trying to give you therapy? (carlito) certainly not, pigeon holing you? descontructing you? no, not at all, i was challenging you, i read the posts between yourself and Real World (where are you now?) and didnt like what i read and i reacted. You seem to enjoy a certain ammount of support for your oppinions and I think your shoulders are broad enough to take my criticisms? It must be pretty dull having everyone agreeing with you all the time anyway? so I was doing you a favour I hope?

Uhoh.Dorset Evening echo are getting on the bandwagon now and even quoting from this site(without mentioning the name).Just remember carlito only pink mist.Rifle ready Bat?Maybe we could pinch some of the numerous sets of tempory traffic lights and put them on permenant red at the entrances to Bridport to discourage large numbers of 'incomers?'
Posted by Carlito, on 11-04-2007 16:47,
OMG! Well..when I started reading the Echo article I thought ""well at least this is getting across the other side of the arguement""...but now I fear it may have back fired. Our point was we didn't like Bridport being represented as Notting-Hill-On-Sea, but now, we're being represented as a bunch of pitchfork-weilding angry villagers. This was easy journalism for Mary, thrown in a few controversial quotes from a Bridport website forum and a glance in the direction of the offending article and voila!...a front page story. Well....we're still mis-represented. hey ho. I'd rather have no representation at all at this rate! And Tuzo...Yes, thanks I was aching to be disagreed with(!) No but seriously, it wasn't that everyone agreed with me, it was that I simply had the popular view and others shared it too. Anyway, fancy a pint? Let's get together and shake hands me ol' fruit.
Posted by tuzo, on 11-04-2007 19:06,
certainly (carlito) consider it swallowed (the pint) and shaken (the hand) at some time in the future

Aaah isn't lovely when people make up. As for Real World I thought he was just having fun winding people up. But that last post suggests perhaps he was serious? Wrong website mate. As for the Bridport Radio Christmas party it's going to be a corker - We've got Herbie Treehead and Rob Lee doing an Abba songs spectacular, Gavin Morris from Digital Funfair handing out handsets to control a live video beatbox, there's to be an auction of peerages, woodlouse racing (if we can work out how to get the little tykes to wear racing silks), local films and of course it wouldn't be a christmas party without the Sidekicks and a big mirror ball. There's also a kicking VJ set by Digital Jam and, finishing off the night, DJ Big Nancy will banging out hi-energy disco anthems. Tickets will be £6 adv from Bridport Records available shortly - please buy early, it makes me spend more on the gig :-)

ohhhhhh see what you mean Mr Head (comment 14). Guess we are all, me included, guilty of a bit of ribbing but its only meant to further the ""debate"" (use the term lightly). Come back Real World much missed, cough, Dorset born and Dorset bred strong in the arm and ""off"" me head. No pun intended Mr head. PS where is the party taking place?

I have had the priviledge of living in Bridport for the past 16 years and can honestly say that I have never had any negative comments from anyone for being an outsider. Everyone without exception has made us feel 100% welcome. I can appreciate the desire to keep the town much as it is (although a few less charity shops and boarded up pubs wouldn't go amiss) but there is a very fine line between retaining independence and becoming another Royston Vasey.
