Totem pole carving courses in Dorset Karen Hansen designs with natural form and sustainable materials to create contemporary furniture and sculptural constructions.

As part of her sculptural work she is now offering workshops in Totem pole carving. The range of courses is open to most ages and abilities. Some sessions are specifically designed for families to be able to work together on communal poles and create their family crest or celebrate a special occasion.

With the announcement that Woolies has gone into receivership we urge the good people of Bridport not to panic, the imminent shortage of 'Pick N Mix' in the town means thousands of children and soppy adults with a penchant for pre-mauled confectionery may begin to show signs of weakness and dizziness coupled with an uncontrollable craving for sugar. Doctors in the town are worried of an outbreak of Sugar Shortness Affected Dissorder or Ssad as it is more commonly known.

Who's Afear'd of zombiesThank you to the legions of undead who turned up on Allington Hill last Sunday, to take part in the Who's Afear'd music video shoot. The weather stayed clear for a successful day filming and as promised there was blood, gore and cider (the rough cider was like Jack Frost tiptoeing down your spine and zombified many). Followed by a right shin kicking gig at the Ropeys after.

Seal of the town of BridportBridport has a long and interesting history, there is evidence in the lumps and bumps of the landscape that people have lived in this area since prehistoric times. In 1086 The Domesday book calls it Brideport. Bridiport 1157, Brudiport 1207, Bredeport 1266. The definition of the name means 'Harbour or market town belonging to Bredy', from Old English Port which can mean either 'port' or 'market' and Brit the name of the river that runs through it.

Proposed routeIt’s official, Bridport is to Install the World’s first Park and Slide scheme to ease traffic congestion, the Slide which will operate during peak periods 9pm–10pm September to April. Running from the top of Colmers hill in the West of town and corkscrewing through Symos and Allington, over the post office,  delivering shoppers to the heart of town where  shopkeepers are already fighting over the location of the landing pad.
