Welcome to the Gables Bed and Breakfast in Bridport, West Dorset
Our four star bed and breakfast accommodation is half a mile from Bridport town centre. We have two en suite double rooms and a twin room with private facilities (not ensuite). Bridport is just inland from the Jurassic coast between Lyme Regis and Weymouth and is ideally placed for a holiday in West Dorset.
The
Gables was built in 1907 by William Saunders Edwards. He was the principal of William Edwards & Son, who specialised in
sports nets. They still manufacture the nets for Wimbledon. He was also the Mayor of Bridport 1907-1909 and again in
1917-18, so the house was built to reflect the achievement of a very
successful man both in business and politics.
Until the 1930's the house was used to entertain international clients
from Australia, Iceland and Japan so has a long pedigree of hospitality.
We have plenty of
off road parking and the centre of Bridport is a 10 minute stroll so there
is no need to take your car out in the evening. We are a television free oasis but have plenty of reading material including
magazines and books all about Dorset and the local area. We offer wire free internet access to your laptop.
Bournemouth to Exeter coastal route bus stop, footpath to coast and
Allington hill with its panoramic views of Bridport, West Bay and Marshwood
Vale are all only yards away.
