Who ever said that week nights had to be boring? Even with the wet and wild weather chilling us all to the bone, now is no time to be hiding under your duvet...
For example, My Wednesday night was spent listening to the awesome music of Shelby's Elbows, enjoying my Southern Comfort and lemonade in the company of other music lovers. As many people will know, No.10 have always supported local music, and their music nights have become legendary in their own right.
To my own shame, I have not really ventured to many of these cosy, intimate gigs but, with my girlfriends in tow, I headed out with high expectations, to see some No.10 favourites - Shelby's Elbows. I was not disappointed. Local Bridport duo Shelby's Elbows covered some superb classics, from Depeche Mode to the Beatles, tackling each song with enthusiasm and passion. A audience of all ages gathered, and I was in the midst, belting out my own (out-of-tune) attempt at 'Breakfast at Tiffanys'.· U2's 'With or Without You' had everyone around me singing along, while their rendition of 'Teenage Kicks' was undoubtedly one of the best covers I've heard in a long while. Martin and Phil put on one hell of a show, proving exactly why they've become such firm favourites of Bridport's music scene.
So why spend your weekday nights sat indoors, watching the latest repeat of another programme on the telly? Kick off your duvet, get rid of that onesie - with gems like Shelby's Elbows, every night is a Saturday night!
(As for me, this music night at No.10 is the first of many to come! Keep you posted.)
